Spanish - Affixes

-ísimo / -ísima

To say something is really great or really interesting, add -ísimo / -ísima to the end of the word. E.g. facilísimo (really easy).

If the adjective already ends in a vowel, you should remove the vowel before adding -ísimo. E.g. grande -> grandísimo.

The gender of the nouns will decide which to use, -ísimo or -ísima. Use -ísimos or -ísimas when talking about more than one thing.

-ito

Use the word ending -ito / -ita / itos / itas to indicate something is little or to show affection:

  • hermano -> hermanito (little brother)
  • perros -> perritos (little dogs)
  • mesa -> mesita (little table)
